HX COMMUNITY RULES
Effective Date: August 28, 2026
HX exists to give hospitality professionals a useful place to talk with each other.
These Community Rules apply to members, organizations, Jobs, People Moves, posts, replies, media, and other participation on HX.
The basic expectation is simple:
Be useful. Be professional. Be real.
1. Be Respectful
Professional disagreement is welcome.
Personal attacks are not.
Do not:
- harass;
- bully;
- threaten;
- intimidate;
- stalk;
- repeatedly target;
- or deliberately humiliate
another person.
Criticize ideas, decisions, systems, trends, or business practices without turning the discussion into personal abuse.
2. No Hate or Dehumanizing Content
Do not attack or demean people based on protected characteristics.
Do not promote hatred, exclusion, violence, or dehumanization against protected groups.
3. No Threats or Promotion of Violence
Do not:
- threaten physical harm;
- encourage violence;
- celebrate credible violence against individuals;
- or use HX to coordinate harmful acts.
Credible threats may result in immediate restriction or suspension and may be reported to appropriate authorities where legally required or necessary for safety.
4. Be Who You Say You Are
Do not impersonate:
- another hospitality professional;
- hotel;
- brand;
- management company;
- ownership company;
- vendor;
- association;
- HX;
- SalesHospitality; or
- another organization.
Parody or commentary must not deceptively appear official.
5. Do Not Misuse Verification
Do not:
- falsify verification evidence;
- misrepresent a verified affiliation;
- falsely imply HX endorsement;
- transfer verification deceptively;
- or use a verification badge to facilitate fraud.
Verification means authenticity or affiliation was reviewed.
It does not mean HX endorses your opinions or services.
6. No Fraud or Scams
Do not use HX to:
- steal money;
- obtain credentials;
- run employment scams;
- run vendor scams;
- impersonate organizations;
- distribute fraudulent links;
- collect sensitive information deceptively;
- or misrepresent business opportunities.
7. Jobs Must Be Real
Jobs published through HX must represent genuine opportunities.
Do not post:
- nonexistent jobs;
- bait-and-switch opportunities;
- misleading compensation;
- fraudulent recruitment;
- jobs designed primarily to collect personal information;
- unauthorized employer listings;
- or opportunities that violate applicable law.
Close or update Jobs when they are no longer available.
8. People Moves Must Be Responsible
People Moves should reflect legitimate professional updates.
Do not use People Moves to publish:
- false promotions;
- false appointments;
- involuntary terminations;
- disciplinary matters;
- medical leave;
- confidential HR information;
- private disputes;
- or deliberately misleading career information.
When HX requires the subject’s confirmation, do not attempt to bypass it.
9. Protect Privacy
Do not publish another person’s sensitive private information without authorization.
This includes information such as:
- private home address;
- personal phone number;
- private email;
- financial information;
- authentication credentials;
- identification numbers;
- confidential personnel information;
- private health information; or
- other information that could create a meaningful privacy or safety risk.
Professional information already intentionally made public may generally be discussed in appropriate contexts.
10. No Spam
Do not overwhelm HX with repetitive or low-value content.
Examples include:
- repeated promotional posts;
- repeated identical links;
- mass unsolicited replies;
- mass following for attention;
- repeated reposting designed to game visibility;
- duplicate Jobs;
- duplicate People Moves;
- and automated promotional behavior.
11. Vendors Must Be Transparent
Vendors are welcome.
Do not pretend to be a hotel operator or customer if you are promoting a commercial product.
Clearly represent your professional role.
Useful vendor participation includes:
- answering questions;
- providing operational insight;
- participating in industry discussion;
- and sharing relevant product information in appropriate context.
Vendor spam is not permitted.
12. No Fake Engagement
Do not manufacture:
- followers;
- likes;
- reposts;
- replies;
- saves;
- views;
- engagement rings;
- fake testimonials;
- or other artificial social proof.
Do not coordinate fake engagement with other accounts.
13. No Automated Manipulation
Do not use bots, scripts, or automation to:
- mass follow;
- mass reply;
- mass like;
- scrape users improperly;
- inflate metrics;
- evade rate limits;
- manipulate Pulse;
- or interfere with HX ranking/discovery.
Authorized accessibility tools and ordinary browser automation are not prohibited merely because they are automated.
14. No Malicious Software or Security Abuse
Do not:
- upload malware;
- distribute malicious links;
- attempt credential theft;
- probe private systems;
- exploit vulnerabilities;
- bypass authentication;
- defeat request signing;
- evade rate limits;
- or interfere with HX infrastructure.
Security researchers should contact:
support@getonhx.com
before conducting testing that could affect the service.
15. No Illegal Content or Activity
Do not use HX to facilitate illegal activity.
HX may remove content or restrict accounts where necessary to comply with law or protect the platform.
16. Intellectual Property
Only post content you have the right to use.
Do not knowingly publish:
- copyrighted material without authorization;
- stolen photographs;
- proprietary documents;
- confidential company materials;
- or trademark uses designed to mislead others.
17. Keep Confidential Hotel Information Confidential
Hospitality professionals frequently work with sensitive business information.
Do not publish confidential information belonging to:
- hotels;
- owners;
- management companies;
- employees;
- guests;
- vendors; or
- clients
unless you are authorized to disclose it.
Examples may include:
- private guest records;
- confidential contracts;
- passwords;
- private rate agreements;
- nonpublic financial reports;
- security procedures;
- or internal personnel records.
18. Protect Guest Privacy
Do not disclose personally identifiable guest information merely to tell a story or make a point.
Remove or anonymize guest information where appropriate.
19. Professional Criticism Is Allowed
HX is not intended to suppress legitimate professional criticism.
Members may discuss:
- hotel practices;
- brands;
- vendors;
- technologies;
- management decisions;
- employment practices;
- operational failures;
- and industry problems.
Criticism should not become:
- harassment;
- knowingly false factual accusations;
- doxxing;
- threats;
- impersonation; or
- coordinated abuse.
20. Do Not Abuse Reporting
Reports should be submitted in good faith.
Do not:
- mass-report someone because you disagree with them;
- coordinate false reports;
- use reporting to retaliate;
- or repeatedly submit the same unsupported report.
A dismissed report does not automatically mean a reporter acted improperly.
21. Do Not Evade Enforcement
If HX restricts or suspends an account, do not create or use another account to evade the action.
Circumvention may result in additional enforcement.
22. Organization Accounts
If you manage a hotel or organization page:
- act only within your actual authority;
- do not falsely claim ownership or management authority;
- keep organization information reasonably accurate;
- do not give unauthorized users organization roles;
- and do not use organization identity to disguise individual misconduct.
23. Official Organization Posts
Only authorized organization users may publish as an organization.
Organization administrators remain accountable for actions performed through their authorized roles.
24. Advertising and Promotion
Ordinary professional promotion is allowed when relevant and not abusive.
HX may restrict:
- repetitive promotion;
- deceptive advertising;
- mass solicitation;
- affiliate spam;
- misleading claims;
- and posts designed solely to game attention.
25. Sensitive Employment Matters
Do not use HX to publicly litigate confidential employee matters.
Discussion of workplace issues is allowed, but users should avoid publishing confidential HR records or sensitive personal employment information without lawful justification.
26. Moderation Actions
Depending on severity and history, HX may use:
- no action;
- warning;
- content removal;
- temporary posting restriction;
- social restriction;
- organization-publishing restriction;
- temporary suspension;
- indefinite suspension;
- organization restriction;
- Job removal;
- People Move removal; or
- other proportionate action.
Not every violation receives the same response.
Context matters.
27. No Formal Shadow Bans
HX does not use a moderator-facing “shadow ban” as a formal disciplinary action.
Content may naturally receive different distribution because of:
- feed ranking;
- relevance;
- personalization;
- blocking;
- muting;
- eligibility;
- or moderation status.
28. Appeals
Some moderation actions may be appealed.
An appeal does not guarantee reversal.
HX may:
- uphold;
- modify;
- reverse; or
- close
the action after review.
29. Emergency Action
HX may act immediately when reasonably necessary to address:
- credible threats;
- serious security incidents;
- fraud;
- malicious software;
- severe privacy violations;
- or significant risks to users or the service.
30. Enforcement Is Not an Endorsement
The fact that content remains on HX does not mean HX agrees with it.
The fact that an account is verified does not mean HX endorses everything that account says.
31. Rules May Evolve
The hospitality industry and HX will evolve.
We may update these rules to address new behavior, features, abuse patterns, or legal requirements.
Material changes may be communicated through HX or an updated effective date.
